Benefits Of Asphalt

• Increase the visual appeal and value of your home or business with a new parking lot or asphalt driveway
• Asphalt offers outstanding durability and is cost-effective, making it a smart investment for any surface.
• Asphalt allows for quick installation, minimizing downtime in getting your surface ready for use faster.
• Asphalt requires minimal maintenance – compared to dirt or gravel pads, a paved driveway requires less maintenance, there’s less resurfacing and reinforcing.
• Professional paving ensures proper grading and drainage to prevent water accumulation and reduce puddles. This can also help prevent potential structural issues.

Paving Process

Before any asphalt goes down, the area must be properly prepared.
• Clearing and Grading: Remove old pavement, vegetation, or debris.
• Excavation: Dig out any unsuitable subsoil (soft spots, clay, etc.).
• Grading: Shape the area to ensure proper slope and drainage away from structures.
• Compaction: Compact the soil to create a stable subgrade.

Sub-Base Installation

• Crushed rock or gravel is spread evenly.
• Grading and Compaction: The base is graded to the proper slope and tightly compacted.
• Purpose: Provides structural strength, prevents shifting, and helps with water drainage.

Asphalt Installation

• Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) is delivered and spread while hot.
• Laid down using a paver machine for even thickness.
• Compaction: Rollers compact the asphalt while it’s still warm to eliminate air voids and create a smooth, dense surface.
• Install Surface Layer (Top Course)
• Fine asphalt mix gives a smooth, finished appearance.
• Provides skid resistance and waterproofing

FAQ

Asphalt should be sealcoated every 2–4 years and cracks or potholes should be repaired as needed. Maintenance costs are typically low compared to replacement.

Properly installed and maintained asphalt can last 15–25 years for residential driveways, and longer for commercial lots with routine upkeep.

Water infiltration, freeze-thaw cycles, heavy vehicles on thin asphalt, and petroleum or chemical spills are the main causes of damage.

Asphalt usually needs 24–48 hours to cool and cure enough for light traffic. Heavier vehicles may need to wait 3–7 days.

Oil, fuel, and chemicals can stain asphalt, but prompt cleaning and sealcoating reduce permanent marks.
